Our Leadership
Nada Andersen, Chairman

I got my first dog, Belinda, an Istrian Shorthaired Hound, when I was six. Belinda taught me how to overcome many challenges, including jumping into a cold river to escape a swarm of bees.
In my lifetime with dogs, I bred German Shepherds before I fell in love with White Swiss Shepherds and Westhighland Terriers. I’m a National Judge for FCI Group 1.
A dog, to me, is a family member, and I treat them as such. Their love is unconditional and free. I can’t think of a better way to spend my time than with dogs. And horses.
I hold a degree in Business Administration, I’m pursuing a master’s in Mass Communication, and I’m also a director at Star Leo Advertising.
Ali Dakik, Director, Committees

I am a lifelong dog enthusiast and a dedicated Golden Retriever breeder, also the founder of the Golden Retriever Club of Uganda. I am a National Judge for FCI Group 8, driven by my love to show the beauty of conforming dog breeds.
Beyond the show ring, I am the founder of APPETITE, Uganda’s leading pet store chain, known for introducing premium international pet food brands to the market, and also the founder of Samco Plastics Ltd and Nova Packaging Ltd, both prominent players in Uganda’s flexible and rigid packaging industry.
I have lived in Uganda since 1995. I’m married and a proud father of two young children, who also share my love for dogs.
Marianne Karamagi, Director, Shows and Judging

Raised in a household without dogs, I barely noticed them until a colleague gifted me a Malinois mix named Max. Teaching him basic commands out of courtesy sparked a curiosity I did not expect, and within months, I had several dogs and a growing interest in canine behaviour.
Even with a demanding career, evenings with them became the most calming part of my day, and learning from professional trainers deepened my fascination.
With an Executive MBA, boosted by a Diploma in Educational Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Economics, I have always been drawn to understanding how systems and learning work. This curiosity now shapes my approach to dogs and has led me to Canine Experts, which is now evolving into Canine Domain.
Dr Steven Lukwago, Director, Veterinary Health

I am a veterinary surgeon and the founder of Vetpal Animal Clinic, located in Kampala, Uganda. My expertise includes general medicine, surgery, dental care, and pet travel services. I am also an advocate for responsible pet ownership, emphasising the importance of vaccinations, especially against rabies, to protect both animals and their owners.
My passion for my work as a veterinary surgeon began in childhood, and I always knew I would be in a job that involved helping animals.
Pets are our friends; every day, they meet us with love and kindness, and I believe I am doing my part to return that love and compassion when they need it the most. Seeing a pet and their owner, both with a cloud of desperation around them, and helping them walk out of the clinic happy and together is what makes me feel fulfilled.
Primrose Nantamba, Company Secretary

Through my work at the Canine Association Uganda, I got to meet so many dogs of different shapes and sizes. From someone who was very apprehensive of dogs, I am now a passionate dog lover and the Secretary of the Canine Association Uganda.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, I oversee all administrative functions, communications, and event coordination for the association. My love for dogs drives me to promote responsible ownership, improve canine health, and strengthen the bond between dogs and communities across Uganda.
